HOA TIEN BROCADE: A gift from nature

Follow Vinh Guru come to a small village in Chau Tien commune, Quy Chau district, Nghe An province, comes what is known as one of the most famous and oldest brocade weaving cradles in Nghe An. A cultural artifact of the Thai people, brocade is an indispensable part in daily life, holidays, village festivals or weddings. It brings a beauty of artistic creation and cultural tradition, easily impressing people the first time they encounter it.

Growing mulberries and raising silkworms is the first important step to get a high quality of brocade. The farmers usually select the natural material themselves for the original products. Cotton yarn will be grown by the farmers, then harvested and processed into fibers to weave fabric and make other cotton products.

Let talk a little bit about the brocade fabric’s color. Most of the products from brocade are a variety of tones, so how can they get that and how it affects human skin?

Creating colorful materials is not too difficult for the Thai people. Living in the mountainous area gives them a lot of natural resources to support the development of this traditional weaving profession. Each color comes from a unique substance, each of which gives off a fragrant scent like flower or grass. These substances are not irritating to the skin and they are environmentally friendly.
